Description:
A small-scale nihonga work depicting two foxes in a close, intimate composition. The animals are rendered with soft layers of ochre, brown, grey, and white, giving the painting a gentle and natural presence. A red seal is present within the composition, and the work is presented in a light-colored frame. The reverse bears a matching artist’s label with the title, artist name, and date, and the outer box also carries a corresponding label. Created in 2019.

Saki Kiuchi is a Japanese nihonga artist born in Iwate Prefecture in 1986. She completed the master’s course in Nihonga at the Graduate School of Tohoku University of Art and Design in 2012. She is known for paintings of animals based on close observation. In 2012, she received the Grand Prize at the 5th Toneyama Kojin Memorial Grand Prize Exhibition Triennale Kitakami.
