Polychromed wooden heraldic panel from the 1950s (1950–1960), measuring 47 cm high by 41 cm wide with a depth of 3 cm, made of wood and originating from Spain, in an antique style and described as good used condition.
Description from the seller
This is a polychromed wood heraldic piece from the 20th century, crafted with that artisanal character that blends tradition, symbolism, and a touch of expressive naivety typical of popular imagery of the period. The piece presents a central shield of a classical shape, where three elevated islands crowned with vegetation stand out, set against a light background that enhances the motif. Below them, blue and white waves represent the sea, creating an immediate reading: insular territory, maritime identity, a bond with water as origin or protection.
Around the shield unfolds an eagle with extended wings, carved in wood and polychromed in gray and ocher tones. Its presence lends solemnity to the composition and a protective aura, as if guarding the emblem. The carving, though stylized, shows volume and careful work on the feathers, which adds dynamism and relief.
At the top rises a decorative crown, painted in reds, greens, and golds, introducing a ceremonial touch. It is not a strictly heraldic crown in the academic sense, but a decorative interpretation that reinforces the idea of dignity and belonging.
The polychromy, applied with visible brushstrokes and vivid colors, preserves that charm of devotional and heraldic objects from the 20th century: pieces made to be seen, recognized, and valued more for their presence than for exact formal accuracy.
Tracked shipping and careful packaging.
