Unbranded Indian silver necklace, total weight 40 g, about 52 cm long, with a large circular pendant featuring a Lakshmi motif and floral surround, tested as silver but without a laboratory report, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
The object is an ethnic necklace typical of traditional Indian craftsmanship.
The necklace consists of a rigid, tubular chain that ends in a large circular pendant, finely engraved on both visible surfaces.
The structure suggests an artisanal and ritual origin, more than purely ornamental: it could be a tribal or templar piece of jewelry, inspired by religious and protective motifs of Hinduism.
The pendant is the centerpiece of the work. It is round, with a diameter of about 5–6 cm, and is composed of several decorative concentric rings, each with an aesthetic and symbolic function.
In the heart of the medallion is depicted a female figure seated on a lotus.
• The figure possesses four arms, a typical attribute of the major Hindu deities.
• The posture is calm and symmetrical, with the two lower hands seeming to offer or bless, while the upper ones hold objects resembling flowers or symbols of abundance.
• This iconographic scheme almost perfectly matches the representation of Lakshmi, goddess of wealth, beauty, and spiritual and material prosperity.
• The lotus on which she sits is a symbol of purity and rebirth: it rises from mud but blooms uncontaminated, recalling the purity of the soul and the beauty that emerges from difficulties.
Around the divinity there is a band adorned with stylized floral motifs and microbeads cut in relief.
• This circle represents the earthly and natural world, the realm of manifestation.
• The flowers, repeated in a rhythmic pattern, are a symbol of cyclical harmony and eternal life, expressing the idea that divine beauty permeates all of nature.
• The geometric motifs and the small dots form a texture of protection: in many Indian cultures, repeated motifs function as a visual amulet against negative energy (drishti).
The rigid, smooth chain, composed of two interwoven metal wires, is connected to the pendant by cylinders engraved with floral and spiral motifs.
• The spirals represent the continuity of time and the cyclicity of existence.
• The decorations on the connectors may evoke Yantra, small sacred geometric diagrams that concentrate spiritual energy.
The silver color and the slightly oxidized surface give the jewel an antique and ceremonial appearance. Attention to detail and the density of the engravings attest to careful handwork, typical of jewelers from regions such as Rajasthan or Orissa.
Tested silver, high-quality silver.
The result is an object that blends aesthetic beauty, religious symbolism, and traditional craftsmanship, turning a simple ornament into a manifesto of spiritual harmony.
The necklace measures approximately 52 cm and weighs 38 g.
It is without a hallmark, yet has been tested to ensure it is made of silver.
The conditions are impeccable, with no scratches, and it still shines with a captivating luster.
For shipments across Europe, insurance is included in the price.
