Bronze Art Nouveau centerpiece from France in a gold tone, featuring a stylised floral petal motif, 22 cm wide, 22 cm deep and 5 cm high, in good used condition, titled Pétalos de Flor, dating from the first half of the 20th century.
Description from the seller
It is a modernist centerpiece of the kind that doesn’t need fanfare to command attention: its form, its material, and that organic way of occupying space are enough. Made in bronze and dated to the first half of the 20th century, it belongs to that moment when modernism had already matured, yet remained faithful to its fluid lines, to vegetal inspiration, and to the idea that even a quotidian object should possess a sculptural soul.
The design starts from a stylized floral structure, almost like a large open corolla. Each petal —cut, curved, airy— creates a play of light and shadow that changes with the tilt, a very characteristic effect of handmade metalwork. Bronze, with its soft warm patina, adds depth and a sense of solidity that balances the visual lightness of the motif.
Elevated on three small supports, the centerpiece seems to hover just above the surface, which enhances its decorative character. It is not a piece that seeks prominence by size, but by presence: its silhouette is clean, elegant, almost graphic, and at the same time preserves that organic touch that defines modernism in its more functional facet.
Taken together, it is an object that combines utility and beauty with a natural ease that is hard to reproduce today. A fragment of twentieth‑century craftsmanship that continues to function as a decorative accent, as a collectible piece, or as a small stylish gesture in any interior.
Tracked shipping and careful packing.
