Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A vintage wooden box with geometrical taracea inlay from Spain, dating to 1950–1960, measuring 27 cm wide, 15 cm deep and 7 cm high, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
A mid-20th-century marquetry wooden box that preserves the quiet charm of objects crafted with patience, precision, and an almost ritual sense of detail. The surface is completely covered with a mosaic of geometric and floral motifs, assembled from small pieces of stained wood, creating a continuous tapestry that envelops the entire structure. There are no improvised lines: each band, each repetition, each symmetry responds to the ornamental logic of traditional marquetry, where the drawing arises from the sum of tiny fragments.
The top, with its elongated opening, maintains the continuity of the pattern without breaking the harmony of the whole. The tones—ochres, browns, reddish hues, and deep greens—dialogue with one another with a warmth that only hand-worked wood can offer. The result is an object that, while functional, is perceived as a decorative piece in itself, a small geometric landscape that catches the light and fractures it at its multiple angles.
The box has that artisanal, travel-ready vibe, typical of pieces that reinterpret Mediterranean and Middle Eastern traditions in the mid-20th century, when marquetry enjoyed a domestic renaissance. It is solid, elegant, and conveys the sense of having been made to last, to accompany a table, a desk, or a chest of drawers as an accent of color and texture.
Certified shipping and careful packaging.
