Geometric Art Deco marble clock dating to 1930–1940, with a quartz movement, silent strike, in good used condition and in working order, measuring 32 cm wide by 16 cm high by 7 cm deep and weighing about 3 kg, made in France.
Description from the seller
It is an Art Deco-style clock from the 1930s/40s, a piece that retains all the geometric force and the sober elegance of the period, although today it operates with a quartz mechanism that replaces the original. That technical update does not alter its presence: the clock remains, above all, a miniature architectural object.
The body, made of stone or marble with natural veining, shows that Art Deco taste for noble materials and bold forms. The rectangular silhouette, supported on stepped side supports, recalls the volumes of the skyscrapers of the era: straight lines, clean planes, balanced proportions. The contrast between the stone mass and the metallic details adds depth and a nearly monumental air.
The dial, with stylized numerals and a highly graphic composition, is pure Art Deco language: geometric typography, visual clarity, and a design that aims to be modern without renouncing classic elegance. The hands, thin and precise, complete that aesthetic of a technical instrument converted into a decorative object.
Replacing the mechanism with a quartz one places the piece at an interesting point: it preserves its historical identity and sculptural presence, but offers the reliability and convenience of contemporary watchmaking. It is, in essence, a watch that blends past and present, designed to keep working without losing its soul.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
