Description from the seller
Maurizio Castagna is an Italian contemporary artist born in 1961 in Piazza Armerina. Formed artistically between Sicily and Piedmont, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Turin and initially approached figurative tradition, influenced by the great Italian and international masters such as Caravaggio and the Sicilian painters of the twentieth century.
Over the course of his career he evolved his artistic language from figurative to surrealism and metaphysical painting, then progressively arrived at a search that became increasingly abstract and expressive. His works are characterized by an intense and personal use of color, dynamic compositions, and a strong emotional and gestural component.
He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including Milan, Florence, Berlin, Dubai, New York, and Shanghai, earning recognitions and a consolidated presence in the contemporary art scene. His production ranges between painting and mixed media, with works in private collections and in international circuits.
His artistic research focuses on the expression of inner sensations and on transforming emotional lived experience into visual language, with a style that combines chromatic energy and compositional freedom.
I do not operate as a liaison for the artist :)
