Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello met in 1997 in Buenos Aires. Because they both shared a great passion for photography, they soon discovered that their collaboration could yield something special. Their joint work quickly took shape into an oeuvre characterized by creativity, a pronounced cinematic quality and a strong affinity with fashion.
In 2001 they moved to Paris, where they won the Picto Prize for young fashion photographers and held an exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo. Their career then received a major boost with exhibitions at prestigious venues, such as the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin.
Sofia and Mauro worked for numerous international brands from the fashion, jewellery and lifestyle world, including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Givenchy, Armani, Lanvin, Missoni, Escada, Ungaro, Loewe, L’Oréal, Coca-Cola, Hublot, Eres, Chantal Thomass, Swarovski, Boucheron, Petit Bateau, Piper-Heidsieck, McDonald’s, Paco Rabanne, Louboutin, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Chopard and Air France.
Their work is included in several books, including Babeth (Steidl), Unbridaled – The Marriage of Tradition and Avant-garde by Swarovski and Fashion Eye Buenos Aires for Louis Vuitton. Since 2001 their images regularly appear in international magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Numéro France, Elle, Flair, Ten, The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Esquire and Vanity Fair.
