Description from the seller
This photo is part of the series The Brazilian Suitcase by Jasper de Beijer. The project is a fictional travelogue of three expeditions — in 1926, 1979 and 2016 — to the heart of the Amazon, in search of a lost civilization near the mythical El Dorado. De Beijer combines his own footage from the rainforest with archival material, studio shots and computer-generated imagery.
In the series, the encounters between expedition members and a local tribe are central. Both groups project their own ideas, desires and fears onto each other, causing reality and myth to blur more and more. Thus a distorted reflection of both Western culture and the mythical world of the Amazon region emerges
Dimensions: 113 x 170 cm
Dimensions with frame: 116 x 173 cm
Small damage on the right side, see photo
Provenance: Ron Mandos Gallery, Amsterdam
