Description from the seller

estate tobacco pipe by Ropp, stamped "Grand Luxe" on the shank — one of the most prestigious lines produced by this historic French manufacturer. The stamping on the shank reads "Ropp" in an oval with "Grand Luxe" underneath. (Reborn Pipes)
The bowl is a classic billiard/apple form in smooth-finished briar, displaying warm honey-brown and chestnut tones with natural birdseye grain visible across the body. The shank carries an elegant ring detail. The stem is genuine amber-coloured horn — not vulcanite or acrylic — fitted with the characteristic silver ROPP oval logo inlaid into the taper.
The use of a horn stem rather than rubber, combined with the metal tenon system, suggests this pipe was made either just before or just after WWII (Reborn Pipes) — placing it firmly in the interwar to early post-war period, circa 1930s–1950s.
Ropp's Saint-Claude workshop was acquired around 1917, and cherrywood and briar pipes were produced there until the company finally closed in September 1991. (Reborn Pipes) The Grand Luxe was among their premium lines, reserved for the finest briar and fittings.
The bowl shows a well-established cake from use. The horn stem displays natural amber translucency and age-appropriate patina.
