The classic Pushkin tale illustrated by the eminent artist Boris Zvorykin. Born in Moscow in 1872, Zvorykin devoted himself to the decorative arts after graduating from the Moscow Art Academy. He follows the style of Ivan Bilibin, inspired by medieval Russia and traditional popular culture, and becomes one of the greatest illustrators of Russian books. After the Revolution, Zvorykin left Russia and settled permanently in Paris, where he worked for the publishing house H. Piazza
