Description from the seller
Exceptional French Belle Époque / Art Nouveau artistic crystal dresser perfume bottle. The cylindrical body features refined acid-etch engraving with a continuous guilloché pattern (gravure mousseline), creating a delicate texture that refracts light superbly. The crystal shows a beautiful color gradient transition, flowing from a deep ruby red at the top to a soft translucent pink at the base. The shoulder contour and the neck rim are accented by fine gold painted fillets.
The bottle is crowned by a magnificent solid transparent crystal spherical cap, fully faceted in geometric-triangular facets. The top of the cap is ornamented with a gold-engraved eight-pointed star.
Manufacturing Marks:
Both the base of the bottle and the milled cap bear the freely handwritten number “102.” This is a factory pairing number from the period, confirming that the cap and bottle were hand-fitted to each other from their original production to ensure a perfect hermetic seal.
Condition:
Crystal: In very good overall condition, maintaining excellent transparency and vibrant brilliance.
Cap: Shows a small wear/chip from antique use at the lower end of the milled insert, an imperfection entirely hidden inside the neck when the cap is in place.
Gold: Slight and natural wear on the gold fillets, in line with the piece’s age.
Technical Sheet:
Origin: France (Attributable to Baccarat or Saint‑Louis).
Period: Circa 1900 (Art Nouveau).
Material: Blown crystal, acid-etched, hand-cut and gilded.
Dimensions:
Height: 14.5 cm
Diameter: 6 cm
