Description from the seller
Japanese Firefighter Helmet – WWII Era (Shōwa Period) – Original Badge & Neck Guard – Approx. 28 cm
An original Japanese firefighter helmet from the WWII era (Shōwa period, ca. 1930–1945), used by municipal fire brigades and civil defense units during wartime. These helmets were part of the standardized protective equipment issued to emergency responders during air‑raid threats in Japanese cities.
The helmet features its original metal front badge, with a wreath‑and‑star emblem typical of Japanese civic firefighting organizations. A contrasting light band encircles the shell, and the piece retains its detachable neck guard, fastened with the original metal snaps—an uncommon and desirable detail.
Constructed from reinforced composite materials with a textured exterior finish, the helmet shows authentic wartime patina and wear consistent with age and service use. Such helmets are increasingly sought after by collectors of WWII memorabilia, Japanese civil defense equipment, and Shōwa‑period artefacts.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with visible patina and age‑related wear. Neck guard intact and functional. No modern repairs observed.
Period:
WWII era – Shōwa period (ca. 1930–1945)
Materials:
Reinforced composite shell with metal badge and original fittings
Dimensions:
Approx. 28 cm (front to back)
A rare and historically significant Japanese firefighter helmet from the WWII period, ideal for collectors and display.
