Description from the seller

Original Soviet propaganda manifesto created by artists Dmitrij Ivanovič Pjatkin (1921–1999) and Vladimir Petrovič Vladimirov (1909–1975) for the state publishing house IZOGIZ in Moscow, the main Soviet publisher specialized in the production of illustrated posters and propaganda material.

The subject is documented and preserved in the collections of the Russian State Library (Russian Poster Collection), confirming its historical and artistic interest as a significant example of Soviet sport propaganda from the 1950s.

Pjatkin and Vladimirov were among the most active illustrators in the field of Soviet propaganda graphics, producing numerous posters dedicated to sport, work, culture and civil life. Their style combines the language of Socialist Realism with an essential and highly communicative graphic composition.

The slogan "Train all year round!" promotes practicing sport throughout the seasons, reflecting the USSR policy of the 1950s that physical culture was a tool of public health, discipline and the formation of the socialist citizen.

The composition links a skier and an athlete through the symbolic passage of the red flag, representing the continuity of training between winter and summer. The illustration, characterized by bold colors and a strong dynamic stance, represents one of the most successful examples of Soviet sport graphics of the period.

The exemplar preserves the original editorial inscriptions in full:
- approved for printing on 1 December 1953;
- published in Moscow in 1954;
- state publisher IZOGIZ;
- print run of 100,000 copies;
- original price 1 ruble;
- printed at the Leningrad Offset Factory of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR.

Format: about 117 × 53.5 cm.

Condition
Original poster never restored.
Keeps the distribution creases, typical of Soviet posters of the era. The colors are still particularly vivid, bright and visually striking, contributing to maintaining the expressive power of the work.
Shows normal signs of aging: wear along the folds, small openings and abrasions, a paper loss at the intersection point of the central folds, slight tears at some folds and edge wear, more evident in the upper right part, with small tears and minor paper losses. There are also a slight physiological yellowing and some small stains compatible with age.
Overall the poster is in good condition (B), completely original and not restored, with an excellent aesthetic impact.

The photographs constitute an integral part of the description.

Shipping
The poster will be carefully rolled, protected with suitable materials and shipped inside a sturdy rigid cardboard tube by tracked shipping.
