Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A circa 1955–1975 six‑string banjo guitar, likely Framus from Germany, in very good condition and functional, with a natural skin head, decorative pearl‑like back, original tuners, and includes the original soft leather carrying bag; total length 91 cm, body diameter 31 cm, depth 10 cm, weight 2.25 kg.
Description from the seller
The bid is for a beautiful vintage six-string banjo that, based on its construction, decorative finish, used components and general build style, can very likely be attributed to the German manufacturer Framus.
The original factory label, which presumably was inside the resonator, has come loose and been lost over the years. Therefore a definitive identification of the manufacturer is no longer possible. The construction, the long scale length, the six-string configuration, the metal tension hoop and the characteristic finish, however, closely match German banjo-guitars from the period 1955–1975.
The most striking feature of this instrument is the stunning decorative inlay of the resonator. The beautiful mother-of-pearl-like wood grain gives the banjo an exceptionally elegant appearance, making it very appealing to both collectors and musicians.
The metal tension hoop in combination with the natural skin produces a bright, warm and excellent resonant sound. During testing the instrument produced a powerful, pure and lively tone, typical of high-quality six-string banjo-guitars.
The wooden neck features a dark fretboard with 19 frets and white position markers. The original tuners with plastic buttons are preserved.
Also included is the original soft carrying case made of natural thin leather, which suits the age and appearance of the banjo very well.
The banjo shows normal signs of age and use that are fitting for a carefully preserved musical instrument of roughly sixty to seventy years old. The overall condition is very good and the instrument has retained both its decorative look and its excellent tone.
