Vanessa Mitrani - Vase - SCOTT - Glass, Bronze

This piece is a 2006 model by designer Vanessa Mitrani. there are only a very few copies. It epitomizes her work on the constraints of glass, blown into a metal frame, and held together by a blend of materials. Here, the roundness and fragility of the glass form a contrast with the enclosing structure. The name of the model, Scott, comes from the particularly elaborate bronze structure, inspired by Scottish tartan, playing with a weave of metals of different textures and thicknesses. The glass is mouth-blown inside the bronze structure, from which it spurts forth and from which its form arises.

Vanessa Mitrani is distributed worldwide by prestigious retailers such as Roche Bobois, Lane Crawford, Bergdorf Goodman, or Cassina. Some of her creations are part of the permanent collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The elements are made in close collaboration with artisans, and are assembled in her Pantin workshop, near Paris where she designs all of her collections.
