'The Sales of Love' is a rare medieval poem that, through metaphor, treats of love and the sale of affection. The author of the text would be Christine de Pizan (1364-1430), a French philosopher and poet of Italian birth. The Parisian editor and bookseller Joseph Techener (1802–1873) was renowned for producing bibliophilic reissues dedicated to texts in Old French of great rarity and singular interest. This famous facsimile edition of The Sales of Love was published in 1830 in a limited print run of 50 copies.
