KPM - Vase - Porcelain - WWI Era Antique

Description A magnificent and historically significant 15 cm cabinet vase from the prestigious Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM) in Berlin. This piece matches the exquisite Neoclassical (Louis XVI) style, featuring alternating fluted panels of pristine white and pale green, topped by a vibrant lilac band decorated with raised, hand-painted gold festoons, ribbons, and beading. The vase showcases two masterfully hand-painted medallions framed by rich 24k gold laurel wreaths: Front Cartouche: A highly detailed, miniature romantic landscape scene featuring a rustic cottage, tall trees, and a serene riverbank. Back Cartouche: A vibrant, beautifully executed bouquet of polychrome summer flowers, prominently featuring a large pansy. Base Marks & Historical Significance: The underside is fully hallmarked, guaranteeing its authenticity and factory decoration, and features a rare dating mark: The underglaze blue Scepter mark. The overglaze red Orb with Cross and "KPM" (indicating the piece was officially painted and decorated in the KPM factory). The Black Iron Cross (Eisernes Kreuz) mark. KPM utilized this specific mark exclusively during the years of World War I (1914-1918) in support of the German war effort, allowing this piece to be dated with absolute precision. Various hand-painted decorator/painter numbers (e.g., "141/6 k.", "61."). Condition Report The hand-painted cartouches, the main body of the vase, and the gold gilding remain incredibly rich and bright with virtually no signs of handling. Please note: There is a small, visible chip on the top gold rim of the vase. There are no other cracks or restorations. Please carefully review all provided photographs—specifically the top-down image of the rim—as they are an integral part of the description and condition report.
