Description from the seller

Hermès Échec au Roi scarf – beige, brown, red, chess motif, 90 cm

Hermès Échec au Roi – the scarf Benoît-Pierre Emery designed in 2013 as a study of chess. Pieces built from geometric, multi-coloured blocks, red against beige, brown as the ground – a composition that captures the strategic nature of the game through a constructivist language, closer to abstraction than to illustration. Emery is the Hermès designer who works most often in geometry: his carrés are recognisable by their discipline of line, strong contour, and controlled colour.

"Échec au Roi" – check to the king. The move that forces a change of position, a decision.
