Description from the seller
Rare Rococo-Fireplace Tapestry in gilded bronze – 1970s, from the historic Cotognini Gallery (Milan)
A masterpiece from another era that blends art, history, and family memories.
We present for sale a splendid and sumptuous Rococò-style fireplace triptych, consisting of a central monumental clock and two coordinating three-light candelabras.
A PRESTIGIOUS AND HEARTFELT PROVENANCE
This set is not merely a piece of antiques, but carries a beautiful story: it was purchased by my father in the 1970s in Milan, during an important work trip, at the famous and renowned Cotognini shop, a historic reference point for Milanese high-end objets d'art and antiques.
Guarded jealously in the family for fifty years, it is now ready to adorn a new exclusive home.
ARTISTIC FEATURES AND DETAILS:
Material: Fine gilded bronze (or high-quality artisan brass), finely cast and hand-chiseled, with a warm and magnetic shine
Style: Pure Rococò (Louis XV Revival), characterized by sinuous lines, elegant foliate volutes, floral tendrils, and asymmetrical decorations that express movement and opulence.
The Clock:
Classic dial with Roman numerals on elegant white cartouches. The central body is crowned by a richly worked pediment.
The Candelabras: Two symmetrical three-light elements that frame the clock perfectly (the decorative apiary-wax candles visible in the photos are included).
CONDITION:
The clock and the candelabras appear in excellent cosmetic condition, with the original patina of the era testifying to their authenticity and vintage charm. The metal structure is solid and free of defects. The clock’s internal mechanism is present and intact; the clock is quartz and will be shipped without a battery.
