Cartier Must de Cartier Cougar fountain pen with a black resin body and gold-plated trim, dating from the late 20th century and made in France, in good used condition and fully functional with an 18-carat solid gold nib, including its original red Cartier box.
Description from the seller
The Cartier Cougar Must de Cartier fountain pen presented in this lot is in excellent overall condition, showing a very well cared-for appearance fully consistent with a piece of its category and era.
The barrel and cap in black resin with a guilloche pattern are preserved with very good shine and definition in the vertical grooves, with no material loss or deformations. The surface shows only the faintest signs of superficial use, practically imperceptible to the naked eye and typical of careful handling over time. The overall aesthetic remains elegant and highly attractive.
The gold-plated elements — clip, rings, and finials — present a bright, uniform finish with excellent visual presence. No significant wear is observed on the plating, and the pieces retain their structural and aesthetic integrity.
The solid 18-karat gold nib (750), engraved with the Cartier emblem, is in very good condition, correctly aligned and preserving a clean tip. The feed maintains its fins in perfect structural condition, guaranteeing proper ink flow regulation.
The writing system has been inspected and tested for proper operation, delivering the piece fully functional and ready to write, as is customary for pieces prepared by Collecting Legacy.
Also included is its original Cartier red box, which shows a good general condition with light storage-related signs.
Overall, it is a very well-preserved fountain pen—elegant and perfectly functional, ideal for everyday use as well as for a collection.
Conservation recommendations
To preserve the pen in optimal condition, use high-quality inks specifically for fountain pens, avoiding pigmented inks or those with particles. If the pen will not be used for an extended period, it is advisable to clean it with lukewarm water, dry it properly before storing, and keep it in a dry place away from direct light and extreme temperatures. Also, gently operate the filling mechanism to maintain the mechanics in perfect condition over time.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
