Description from the seller

A0000003724

This Waterman’s Ideal No. 52 fountain pen is presented in very good condition, preserving the classic elegance that has made this model one of the most cherished references among collectors and enthusiasts of vintage writing.

The body and cap are made of black ebonite, a material characteristic of the era, which retains a beautiful natural shine and a deep tone, with minor wear commensurate with its age. No cracks, deformations, or visible repairs are observed. The threads function correctly and the cap snaps on securely.

The decorative rings in 9-karat solid gold (9K) are in excellent condition, maintaining their shape, shine, and proper attachment to the pen body. This detail adds a touch of additional distinction to this version of model 52.

The Waterman Ideal clip preserves its definition and firmness, showing very light wear from the passage of time, but fully maintaining its functionality and aesthetic presence.

The original Waterman’s Ideal nib No. 2 in 14-karat gold is in very good condition, with correct alignment and smooth writing. It offers a fine line (F) with semi-flexibility, a feature highly valued in these classic Waterman pens, allowing expressive line variation under moderate pressure. The ebonite feeder works correctly and ensures a stable ink flow.

The lever-filler mechanism has been inspected and tested, functioning correctly for normal use.

Overall, this is a well-preserved specimen, fully functional and ready for writing, that retains the character and authenticity typical of Waterman fountain pens from the early decades of the 20th century.

Conservation recommendations

To ensure longevity and proper operation of this vintage fountain pen, it is recommended to use high-quality fountain pen inks, avoiding pigmented inks or those with particulate matter. If the pen will not be used for an extended period, it should be cleaned with warm water, dried properly before storage, and kept in a dry place, protected from direct light and extreme temperatures. It is also advised to operate the filling system gently to preserve internal components.

It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.

Happy bidding!
