Description from the seller

Beautiful and exceptional pair of Vieux Bruxelles spill vases, manufactured in Belgium around 1840–1860. The vases are made in fine white hard porcelain and richly decorated with refined hand-painted gilding, graceful rocaille ornaments and a central bouquet of separately molded and hand-attached polychrome flowers.
The elegant shape, abundant gilding and the characteristic three-dimensional floral decoration are typical of the high-quality Brussels porcelain from the mid-19th century. The undecorated reverse emphasizes the richly worked front, as is usual with luxury spill vases from this period.
The vases are in good antique condition with normal signs of use and aging. One vase shows a few old, stable hairline cracks in the foot with no visible restorations. The photos are an integral part of the description.
Measurements (per vase)
Height: 29 cm
Width: 24 cm
Depth: 18.5 cm
Foot: 15 cm
Total weight (pair): 3.58 kg
An impressive and decorative pair of collectors’ items that forms a fine example of the luxurious production of Vieux Bruxelles porcelain from the 19th century. This large version is considerably rarer on the market than smaller examples.
