Crucifix - Enamelled - 1960-1970 - 25.8 cm

Superb modernist / expressionist mural crucifix in enameled art ceramic, created by the Belgian master ceramicist Karel Dupon Jr., active in Bruges during the 1960s and 1970s.
This studio piece stands out for its clean lines typical of sacred art from the Mid-Century period. The very graphic horizontal proportions give a unique presence to this Christ on the cross.
The enamel glaze work is remarkable, offering beautiful reactive nuances ranging from verdigris to bluish gray and dark accumulations in the hollows, contrasting with the raw earth that peeks through at the edges.
Signature: Hand-signed “Karel” in blue on the back, with the workshop mark “L.” at the base.
