Capodimonte pair of ceramic vases with neoclassical mythological reliefs, Italy, mid-20th century, 28 cm high, with gilded borders and a three‑legged base, showing some wear to the gilding.
Description from the seller
Capodimonte - Pair of Vintage Vases/Urns, Neoclassical Mythological Frieze, Italy, mid-20th century. The vase features a relief frieze with mythological figures in a neoclassical style: one depicts a helmeted warrior beside veiled and semi-nude female figures near a fountain, the other a group of women in flowing dresses, one of whom plays a lyre. The figural bands are crafted with a very fine black contour decoration on a bronzed gold background, a characteristic feature of the Capodimonte decorative tradition. The vase rests on a tripod base with paw feet, joined by a scroll-supported ornamented with leaves, and a curved three-point base. Edges and interiors are gilded, with acanthus leaf decorations and floral motifs across the surface. Marked on the bottom "Capodimonte Italy" ,"1800" (stylized factory mark, not an dating indication). Conditions: Excellent vintage condition, no breaks, cracks or restorations. As you can see from the photos, some areas of the gilding show normal aging, with partial loss of gold, a common feature in vintage pieces of this type, which confirms authenticity and history. Height: 28 cm (11 in)
