Coffee grinder - Brass, Wood

Elegant brass coffee grinder, rectangular in shape, resting on four ball feet and adorned with turned columns at the corners. This model, inspired by traditional Dutch mills, is equipped with a perforated crank with a turned wooden handle and a front-loading drawer with a decorative rosette in relief. It is European-made, dating presumably from the first half of the 20th century (circa 1930-1940), combining functionality and decorative quality.

The body is entirely made of brass with a warm golden patina, with a hopper topped by its original side-opening lid for filling the beans. The perforated crank, with its elegant design, drives the internal mechanism, while the front-facing drawer, fitted with a wooden knob, allows the freshly ground coffee to be collected. The whole is distinguished by its harmonious proportions and its numerous baroque-inspired details that make it a beautiful kitchen object as much as a decorative piece.

The grinder is presented in excellent condition. The brass retains a beautiful uniform patina with only very light signs of use consistent with its age. The wooden handle, the drawer, the crank and the various decorative elements are complete and well preserved. The mechanism is present and the piece offers a very fine overall presentation.

Coffee grinders in brass of this type enjoyed great popularity in Europe during the first half of the 20th century. Inspired by domestic models from the 17th and 18th centuries, they were prized for their sturdiness and craftsmanship.
