Description from the seller
Hand driven copper box with lizards Jugendstil / Arts & Crafts, ca. 1905-1925.
The lid is richly decorated with hand driven (repoussé) ornamentation of numerous different lizards among stylized flowers and leaves.
No serial production. All lizards are individually worked out.
The sides are equipped with a characteristic hammered finish.
High-quality construction method, typical of artisanal copper work.
The quality of the repoussé work is notably high. Wooden interior.
The box is unsigned; based on style, technique and construction, a dating of around 1905-1925 is considered plausible.
Origin: probably German-Austrian Jugendstil atelier or English Arts & Crafts atelier.
Length 22 cm. Width 15 cm. Height 7 cm. Weight 712 grams.
Good antique condition with normal signs of use and aging. Beautiful natural patina.
Hinge works, the last segment on the right is broken.
