Description from the seller
Magnificent export Chinese porcelain plate, richly decorated in blue and white (underglaze blue), datable to the Qing Dynasty period, more specifically to the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1736–1795).
The central medallion features a classical and detailed scene of an oriental garden, containing a gnarled pine (symbol of longevity), a pierced ornamental rock (scholar's rock) and a peony in full bloom beside a geometric lattice enclosure. The rim of the plate is elegantly adorned with three generous continuous floral scrolls.
The base displays a slightly irregular glaze with tiny firing pinholes and a foot ring on the clean biscuit, typical characteristics of eighteenth-century Jingdezhen production and manufacture.
