Cassa grain table frame from France, circa 1990–2000, in bois with inlays of ash burl, citronnier and ebony, external 22 × 18 cm (internal 18 × 17.5 cm), weight 400 g, multicolour, New Old Stock and unused, sold with its original blue monogrammed box and tissue paper.
Description from the seller
A masterpiece of art cabinetry by the famous Maison Cassegrain, Paris (422, rue Saint-Honoré).
A rare opportunity to acquire an emblematic piece of haute papeterie and Parisian art de vivre of the 20th century. This bevelled table frame is no longer produced today and the historic house has definitively closed its doors, making this complete specimen a true showpiece and collectible.
Exceptional marquetry: bevelled frame in curly maple veneer with a precious, warm, and very graphic aesthetic (tortured figuring with natural "eyes").
Fine inlay work: Delicate hand-made geometric checkerboard frieze on the border, assembling contrasting precious woods (citron wood and ebony).
Haute Couture finishes: The easel back is entirely clad in tawny-coloured suede, stamped with the gold foil of the official signature of Maison Cassegrain.
Condition: Exceptional – New Old Stock. The item has never been used. Note, a very slight and superb natural patina (slightly lighter/yellow-green) on the varnish of the lower part, bearing witness to its age and authenticity.
Original complete case: Sold with its original navy blue carton box monogrammed in warm gold as well as its original tissue paper stamped with the brand's logo.
