Vase - Crystal - Pope John Paul II - 25 cm

Special vintage Tarnow S.A. Pope John Paul II cobalt blue crystal vase, 1970s
Mouth-blown, cut and polished, cobalt blue cylindrical vase with the portrait of John Paul II on one side. In memory of the historic visit of His Eminence to Poland in June 1979. The vase is made in "Cut to Clear" lead crystal for which the Polish-Czech glass industry is renowned.
Colored glass coated with clear glass is used to blow these vases. The designs are then cut through the colored layer. In addition to the etched image of the pope there are intricate patterns of rosettes and miniatures on the sides and back with a 16-point star on the base.
This vase depicts a religious historical event that helped topple the communist Polish dictatorship.
Dimensions: height 25 cm, diameter 12.5 cm.
