Elegant edition of the Roman works of Jacopo Sannazaro (1458-1530), one of the greatest poets of the Italian Renaissance. A volume in full contemporary parchment with a ribbed spine and marbleized boards (binding worn but intact, typical of the period).

- Arcadia (the pastoral masterpiece that deeply influenced European literature);

- De Partu Virginis (an epic-Christian poem in three books, among the peak of Renaissance Latin poetry);

The text is printed in elegant Roman type, with fine woodcut initials and ornaments.

A particularly sought-after edition of 1590, printed in Rome only sixty years after the author’s death. It is one of the earliest complete collections of his works in a pocket-format edition, intended for an educated and refined audience. The sixteenth-century editions of Sannazaro are today extremely rare on the market, especially in complete condition and with period binding.
