This heavy crystal ashtray from the famous Val Saint Lambert glassworks (Belgium) is a stunning mid-century decorative piece dating to around 1970. It beautifully showcases the factory's mastery of amethyst/plum cased crystal, meticulously decorated with wide flat cuts radiating outwards in a starburst pattern that catches natural light. This is a very dense and substantial piece, weighing 1500 g, with a length of 24 cm, a width of 17 cm, and a height of 11 cm. It is unsigned, but its high-quality craftsmanship and origin are unmistakable. A unique historic touch, it features a period inscription finely engraved along the top edge: "Challenge 1970 Wilkin", showing its past as a presentation or trophy piece. It is in very good overall vintage condition, displaying only normal signs of wear and minor shelf scratches underneath the base from handling over the decades.
