Val Saint Lambert - René Delvenne - Centrepiece - Crystal - Pink coupe XL

This large lead crystal centerpiece from the famous Val Saint Lambert glassworks (Belgium) is a highly sculptural piece from the late 1950s, designed by René Delvenne. Its freeform organic shape rises upward to form a light, asymmetrical double handle with great visual lightness. It is an uncommon model that magnificently showcases the sommerso technique, encapsulating a pink fuchsia (or cranberry) gradient within a thick wall of translucent crystal. The piece is particularly substantial, with a weight of 2750 g, a height of 30 cm, a width of 25 cm, and a depth of 21 cm. Unsigned, as is common for much of the art glass production of that era, but its provenance and craftsmanship are undeniable. Overall, the piece is in good general condition. One will note simply a few discreet nicks and micro-scratches from normal use, dispersed, quite logical for its age and visible under certain angles of light.
