Description from the seller
Original Italian political manifesto created for the 1955 Sicilian regional electoral campaign, illustrated and signed by Carmelo Lo Porto and dated 1955.
The work presents a vivid satirical composition: at the center a tree with the trunk bearing the inscription "Autonomia Siciliana", whose fruits represent the island's resources and wealth (Oil, Sulphur, Fishing, Reclamation, Roads, Tourism, Agriculture, etc.). At the base appear two caricatured figures opposed to the symbols of the Christian Democracy – Libertas, with the famous slogan: "DEFEND AUTONOMY, VOTE".
Manifesto of notable graphic and historical impact, testimony to Italian political communication in the 1950s and to the particular season of Sicilian autonomy. The same subject is known on the collectibles market and has also been offered by specialized antiquarians.
Condition
Colors still very bright and well preserved.
Present:
- physiological original creases from shipping;
- slight yellowing of the paper, more evident along the margins;
- some small abrasions, foxing and marginal stains;
- tears and wear on the edges;
- small reinforcement with paper on the back in the upper part;
- light openings and signs of use at some folds, with no significant graphic losses.
Overall the poster is in good condition, with excellent display quality.
