Magnificent original set of glasses of the Bourgueil model, designed by René Lalique in 1930, one of the most influential figures of the Art Deco movement and one of the great masters of 20th-century French artistic glassmaking. His creations stand out for the combination of technical innovation, formal elegance, and a refined treatment of the crystal, qualities that have made them highly appreciated by collectors all over the world.

This exceptional partial service of the Bourgueil model is a testimony to the history of design conceived in the dynamic interwar period. These pieces have survived nearly a century of history, resisting the passage of time and maintaining the true soul of French Art Deco intact.

Beyond the logical traces of time detailed in the condition report, the singularity, historical value, and beauty of this molded-pressed crystal, with its famous acid-satin finish, constitute an unmistakable hallmark of the French firm that prevails as an authentic treasure of the era.

The Bourgueil model is distinguished by its iconic stem composed of alternating bands of small, stepped, and frosted faceted triangles, mimicking a very characteristic geometric cut of three-dimensional diamonds unique to the pure Art Deco movement. Clean and balanced lines, with a chalice of great elegance representative of the artistic language developed by René Lalique during the 1930s. The model was conceived as a full table service and was produced in different capacities destined for water, wine, and champagne.

o 1 Red Wine / Claret Glass model 5203 (Medium format): Height 11 cm | Rim diameter: 8.1 cm.

o 2 Champagne Coupes model 5203 bis (Wide format): Height 8.2 cm | Rim diameter: 9.7 cm.

AUTHENTICITY AND HALLMARKS
The lot is 100% from the authentic original pre-war period. All 7 glasses feature the legitimate acid-etched signatures from René Lalique's lifetime on their bases:

• 6 glasses are signed R. LALIQUE
• 1 champagne coupe is signed R. LALIQUE FRANCE
•
The presence of the initial "R." on all 7 units legally certifies their historical production prior to 1945.

CONDITION REPORT: The lot is composed of a total of 7 genuine Pre-War glasses with the following individualized condition report:

Water Glasses – Model 5200 (4 Units)

• Condition report:

o 3 Units: Excellent / pristine condition. No rubbing, wear, or flaws in the crystal. They retain their original resonance and clarity.

o 1 Unit: Body, stem, and rim are pristine. It only features a chip from impact on the outer rim of the base, as detailed in the photograph with the blue circle. The outline of the chip is smoothed from use. The defect is purely aesthetic and does not affect the stability of the glass when placed on a flat surface, as can be seen in other photographs.


\nCopa de Vino – Modelo 5203 (1 Unit)

• Condition report: Excellent / pristine condition. Clean crystal, frosted stem without marks, and perfect rim.


Champagne Coupes – Model 5203 bis (2 Units)

• Condition report: Neither glass exhibits internal cracks or expanding tension lines.

o Glass 1. R. Lalique France (1 micro-flaw): Features a superficial, millimeter-sized micro-notch on the outer edge, barely noticeable to the naked eye; it is mainly visible upon direct examination against the light. It maintains optimal structural resonance and is not sharp to the touch. (See detail highlighted in the photograph with the red circle).


o Glass 2 R. Lalique (2 micro-flaw): Features two superficial micro-notches (flea bites) on the top rim, located at opposite ends of the glass diameter in an almost symmetrical manner. Both are millimeter-sized, superficial in nature, and noticeable.


NOTE.- All of these details are documented in the photographs.

This is a particularly interesting set as it brings together three of the original capacities of the Bourgueil service (water, wine, and champagne), an unusual circumstance and of interest to collectors of the work of René Lalique and French Art Deco crystal.
