Gebr. Mehner - Coaster (13) - Porcelain

Up for auction is an exceptionally complete and original 13-piece Art Deco serving set from the 1920s. This iconic set was designed by the German manufacturer Gebrüder Mehner (Eulau). It features the highly sought-after and sleek geometric Decor 1647.
The geometric pattern in olive green, gold-yellow, and black on the crisp white porcelain base perfectly reflects the early avant-garde Art Deco period.
The set consists of:
• 1x Large oval serving tray featuring an openwork metal frame, ball feet, and elegant handles.12x Matching round glass coasters (Model 42) in their original metal rims.Markings:
9 out of the 12 coasters are authentically marked on the bottom with the factory stamp Dec. 1647 and model number 42. 3 coasters and the large tray are not stamped (which was common within a single production batch; the authenticity is fully guaranteed by the identical design and execution of the complete set).
Condition:
The set is in a neat, well-preserved antique condition appropriate for its age (c. 1920).
• Tray condition: The porcelain of the large tray is completely intact (no chips or cracks), but shows a beautiful, characterful antique discoloration/patina in the glaze appropriate for its age.Coaster condition: Out of the 12 coasters, 10 pieces are completely intact. 2 coasters show a hairline crack in the porcelain, 1 of which has the hairline visible on both the top and bottom. No chips.Metal mounts: The nickel-plated mounts are sturdy and have developed a beautiful antique patina over the decades.Shipping:
