Description from the seller

Monumental Sacred Art – Baroque Holy Figure (17th Century)
An extraordinary collectible with history and impressive presence!
For sale is an impressive, museum-quality wooden sculpture of a saint, apostle, or deacon from a historic German church estate. This majestic figure captivates with its impressive presence and tells the story of centuries-old sacred craftsmanship.
Whether its origin lies in late Gothic (15th/16th century) or the powerful drapery already reflects the early Baroque of the 17th century—this sculpture is an exceptional eye-catcher and a valuable testimony to Central European sculptural art.
Highlights:
• Impressive size: With a height of about 80–90 cm, the figure exerts a monumental effect and draws all eyes.
• Solid construction: Carved from heavy solid wood (presumably oak or lime). The back is—as with high-quality altar figures typical—carefully hollowed to reduce internal tensions in the wood and prevent cracking.
• Expressive details: The right hand is in a classic blessing or speaking gesture excellently preserved. The deeply worked, flowing drapery gives the figure a lively dynamic and allows light to play impressively across the surface.
A rare opportunity for collectors, art lovers, or connoisseurs of sacred antiques to acquire an extraordinary piece with authentic character and historical presence.
