Description
Magnificent antique turf box, also known as a hearth chest, crafted from copper or brass and entirely hand-engraved. The chest is richly decorated with floral and geometric motifs and decorative figurative medallions on the front and the lid. The hammered finish and attractive patina give the object a characterful and authentic appearance.
Originally intended for storing turf or kindling by the fireplace, but today also very suitable as a decorative interior object or collectible.
The box is fitted with original metal handles on both sides and a lock plate on the front (without a key).
