Statue, Apollo saettante - 60 cm - Bronze

Large and imposing solid bronze figurative sculpture with a dark/black patina, depicting the famous "Apollo Saettante", a faithful period reproduction dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, created for the Grand Tour market at the historic Villa Comelli private collection in Bologna. The Roman original was unearthed in the Temple of Apollo in Pompeii and is today housed at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN). The work stands out for its remarkable decorative dimensions and its substantial physical mass (13.50 kg), features that attest to the high quality of the artisanal casting (attributable to the historic Neapolitan foundries of the period). The statue rests on a solid and elegant base of veined green marble.
