Baking dish - Murano glass

Elegant blown-glass decorative tray or ashtray, attributed to a Murano workshop, made according to the famous Sommerso technique, emblematic of Italian glassware from the 1960s–1970s.
Color: purple and emerald.

This piece presents a free silhouette with four undulations, evoking a stylized flower. The thick walls highlight a subtle gradient of emerald green and sea-green enveloping a bright yellow and purple heart, creating a remarkable sense of depth and transparency. The folded edges, carefully fire-polished, catch the light and enhance the sculptural elegance of the whole.

Unsigned, this model is attributed to a Murano workshop and fits within the tradition of work by master glassmakers such as Mandruzzato, Seguso, or Cenedese, though no definite attribution can be stated.

About the Sommerso technique

The free, organic shapes combined with the translucent colors today make these objects highly sought after by Italian design collectors.
