Italy - Military equipment

Splendid and very rare homogeneous lot belonging to an officer of the Royal Italian Army, dating from the period between the First and Second World Wars (the 1920s/1930s). The lot is exceptionally complete, kept together for over a century inside its original case.

The lot consists of:
1. Giberna in black leather with a sturdy metallic perimetral mouthpiece. On the front rises the large Savoy Eagle in relief, crowned and bearing the crossed shield on the chest. Interior in black velvet with divider, original hooks and belt loops in excellent condition.
2. Shoulder bandolier in heavy gold-thread brocade with horizontal ribs, back lined in dark felt. Complete with regulation carabiners and suspension hooks.
3. Saber belt in gold brocade and velvet. Features a rich silver buckle with three elements decorated with palmettes and, on the side, the suspension plate with the precious gold Royal Monogram of King Vittorio Emanuele II (VEII) under a crown (a Risorgimento family tradition typical of WWI officers). Complete with a chain and arrow-fastener.
4. Dragonara for saber in gold metal thread with blue/black streaks and a lower tassel woven into closed fringe (senior officer rank).
5. Pair of Model 1907 trench gaiters in darkened rigid leather, shaped. Internal slit closure system with a metal pin and original top safety buckle. Inside is present the sharp military acceptance stamp in ink "14" (referable to the year of production 1914 or the 14th Regiment).
6. Original oval cap cover in pressed cardboard with simulated wood finish, stamped on the lid by the prestigious Royal Household supplier "L. Beretta & C. Milano (Succ. a G. Citterio) - Rome, Turin, Naples, Modena". The interior still retains its very rare period protective tissue paper.

Condition: Exceptional overall preservation for equipment over a century old. The leather is solid, the fabrics and velvets show no creases or tears. Stunning natural patina of time and light genuine oxidation on the metal parts attesting to its absolute originality. A museum-piece of very high historical coherence.
