Waterford's vision was unique in the whisky world. Inspired by the concept of terroir, the distillery sought to demonstrate that barley variety, soil composition, climate and farming practices all leave a distinct signature on the final spirit. Every Single Farm Origin release traces its barley back to one specific Irish farm, creating a whisky with a true sense of place.

Lakefield 1.1 is among the original first-wave releases and represents the inaugural expression from Lakefield Farm. Bottlings from the early "1.1" series are particularly appreciated by collectors as they mark the beginning of Waterford's ambitious terroir-driven project.

Following the closure of Waterford Distillery, interest in these early farm releases has grown significantly. Original 1.1 editions have become increasingly difficult to source, especially when accompanied by their presentation tubes and preserved in excellent condition.
