This work is based on an original Polaroid photograph of the Matterhorn.

The image surface was overpainted with intense blue acrylic paint and subsequently revealed again through scratching techniques.
Photography, painting, and graphic line work merge into a standalone Gesamtkunstwerk — a Polaroid-Acrylic mixed-media piece.

About the artist

Mark Kronig has been active as a photographer in Zermatt for over 40 years. His deep connection with the mountains, and in particular with the Matterhorn, shapes his photographic and artistic practice. In addition to classic photography, his special passion lies in analog Polaroid photography, whose immediacy and uniqueness have fascinated him for decades.
