Description from the seller
Suggestive sculpture depicting Lucifer, made of terracotta and finished with a polychrome patina obtained using red pigments, datable to the 1920s–1930s.
The work stands out for its strong expressive character and for the energetic modeling of the material, which gives the figure an intense plastic presence. The surface, deliberately irregular, enhances the play of light and shadow, while the red patina gives depth and vigor to the whole.
In terms of subject and stylistic approach, the sculpture fits into the Italian figurative tradition of the first half of the 20th century, in which allegorical and mythological themes were reinterpreted with a modern and highly expressive sensibility.
The work represents an interesting example of decorative and collectible sculpture, suitable for both 20th-century art collectors and environments with classical or eclectic taste.

Important: if the work is truly from the 1920s, avoid stating the subject with certainty as “Lucifer” unless documented. Catawiki experts may ask for a source. If it is your interpretative attribution, it is preferable to use a title such as “Allegorical male figure” or “Fallen angel,” which is more prudent and easily acceptable.
