Writing slope - Gilt brass - Napoleon III Era

A pretty Napoleon III-era travel writing desk in bird's-eye maple veneer and blackened wood, finely inlaid with fillets and adorned with a brass cartouche on the lid. The interior is lined with its original blue velvet and includes several compartments for storing correspondence. A beautiful object; however, we have a few flaws, notably in the veneer.
