Description from the seller
Coat of arms “Euskalerria” – Multicolored wooden relief
A fine heraldic panel entirely made of carved and hand-painted wood, depicting the historic coat of arms of Euskalerria, the traditional name of the Basque Country. The shield, finely carved, unites the ancient emblems of the Basque historic provinces, framed by a rich garland of oak leaves, symbolizing strength, continuity and a deep bond with the land. The frame, decorated with geometric motifs and traditional Basque symbols, further enhances the artisanal quality of the work.
The polychromy, today characterized by a pleasant patina of time, gives depth to the reliefs and testifies to the natural aging of the artifact.
The coat of arms of Euskalerria originated between the 19th and 20th centuries as a symbol of the Basque people’s cultural and historical identity, recalling the ancient local institutions, territorial privileges and the strong sense of belonging to one of the oldest communities in Europe.
A decorative object of notable aesthetic impact, ideal for heraldic collections, folk art and traditional wooden crafts.
