The Crystal:
The main body is formed by a massive piece of superior lead crystal. The shape is an elegant four-sided concave geometry (pillow-like). The surface is entirely worked with a complex hand-cut finish:
The base features a splendid central radiating star, surrounded by diamond-pattern motifs that refract light with extraordinary brilliance.
The sides are decorated with a series of dense vertical grooves (ogive/lineargrooving) that emphasize the material’s verticality and transparency.
The Gilded Bronze Mounting:
The crystal is embraced and supported by a rich gilded bronze mounting (or high-quality artistic brass), cast in wax with notable detail:
A decorative edge runs along the entire upper perimeter, enhanced by four large and detailed acacia leaves at the corners, which also serve as stylized handles.
The lower band surrounding the crystal is decorated with pierced floral garlands.
The Feet:
The piece rests on four sturdy sculpted feet in the shape of a winged lion’s paw, a classic iconographic motif of the Empire style that conveys regal presence and stability.
