Description from the seller
Tibaldi Trasparente M/C D-2333 – vintage fountain pen in cellulose acetate with a 14KT gold nib – 1940s/1950s – working
For sale a very rare Tibaldi Trasparente fountain pen, size M, with the characteristic covered nib and engraved initials on the barrel, D-2333.
Tibaldi was founded in Florence in 1916 by Giuseppe Tibaldi and is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious Italian manufacturers of writing instruments. The company became particularly appreciated for fountain pens made in cellulose acetate, a material capable of creating depth, transparencies and evocative chromatic effects.
The Trasparente line derives from the previous Impero series and became an autonomous collection in the post-war period. During the 1950s the model was updated with more modern, ogival shapes; versions with a hooded nib were produced exclusively in the medium size and are known as Trasparente M/C.
This example features a fascinating semi-transparent, annellated cellulose acetate body, predominantly black and brown, crossed by thin reddish veins that become particularly visible when the pen is illuminated. The tapered shape, the screw-on cap, the elongated clip and the gold finishes fully convey the elegance of Italian production of the period.
The filling mechanism is functioning. The pen shows normal signs of wear due to time and use, including light superficial scratches and wear to the gold finishes, clearly documented in the photographs.
