Ship diorama - Wood - The Sphinx – Steam Corvette

This is a refined relief diorama (3D painting) in which a historic steam and sailing ship takes center stage. The ship is partially three-dimensionally constructed and mounted against a painted background, creating a realistic depth effect.

The depicted ship is the first French war steamship with a black hull and a reddish-brown underside. In the middle there is a large side paddlebox with decorative white motifs. The ship features three masts with light gray square sails, while the central black chimney emphasizes the combination of sail and steam propulsion. The rigging is carefully worked out with a fine network of ropes, giving the whole a authentic maritime appearance. At the stern a French tricolor waves.

The background shows a calm sea under a soft, warm beige sky, with a subtle coastline on the horizon. Through the restrained colors, all attention remains on the ship. In the lower left is the title of the ship: "Le Sphinx – Corvette à vapeur", while in the lower right the signature M. Le Nest is visible.

The work is placed in a classical dark wood frame with a gold-colored inner edge, giving it an elegant and traditional presentation. The piece radiates craftsmanship and combines maritime history with the charm of an artisanally produced relief painting.
