Pair of vintage copper leg sculptures, dating to 1950–1960, measuring 21 cm high, 9 cm wide and 9 cm deep, weighing 3.4 g, origin France, in good condition with age-related wear.
Description from the seller
Pair of vintage copper-legged sculptures/molds.
These pieces were discovered at a flea market in the south of France and bear testimony to an industrial know-how that has since disappeared. They were presented to me as coming from a doll-making workshop, an origin that cannot be certified in the absence of markings or documentation.
Made from thick copper, they display a very beautiful original patina as well as signs of use consistent with workshop use. Their quality of execution and their sculptural presence make them objects that are as intriguing as they are aesthetically pleasing.
If their exact function remains to be identified, they today stand as remarkable witnesses to French industrial heritage and will appeal to both collectors and enthusiasts of curiosities cabinets or industrial-style decoration.
The lot includes the two elements visible in the photographs.
Condition: Good overall.
Old patina and signs of wear consistent with age.
Note: one of the large toes shows an irregularity (see photos).
No markings or stamp observed.
Material: Copper.
Period: Mid 20th century (estimated).
Provenance: France.
Dimensions: 21 cm high x 9 cm in diameter at the widest point when measured vertically.
Weight: one weighs 1.9 kg and the other 1.5 kg
Careful packing.
